The gentleman does not use dark reddish-blue or blackish-red cloth for trimming, nor does he wear red or purple for casual dress at home. In summer, when wearing a single garment of fine or coarse hemp cloth, he always puts an outer robe over it when going out. A black robe is worn over a lamb-fur coat, a white robe over a fawn-fur coat, and a yellow robe over a fox-fur coat. His informal fur coat worn at home is longer, but the right sleeve is cut shorter. He must always have a sleeping coverlet, one and a half times the length of his body. He sits on a thick cushion of fox or badger fur. Once the mourning period is over, he may wear any ornament he pleases. Garments other than ceremonial robes for court or sacrifice must be tailored and fitted. He does not wear a lamb-fur coat or a dark formal cap when paying a condolence visit. On the first day of each month, he must put on his court robes to attend court.
