子(zǐ)曰(yuē)：「吾(wú)十(shí)有(yǒu)五(wǔ)而(ér)志(zhì)于(yú)学(xué)，三(sān)十(shí)而(ér)立(lì)，四(sì)十(shí)而(ér)不(bù)惑(huò)，五(wǔ)十(shí)而(ér)知(zhī)天(tiān)命(mìng)，六(liù)十(shí)而(ér)耳(ěr)顺(shùn)，七(qī)十(shí)而(ér)从(cóng)心(xīn)所(suǒ)欲(yù)，不(bù)逾(yú)矩(jǔ)。」

The Master said: "At fifteen, I set my heart on learning. At thirty, I stood firm. At forty, I had no doubts. At fifty, I understood the decrees of Heaven. At sixty, my ear was attuned to truth — I could discern right from wrong in all that I heard. At seventy, I could follow whatever my heart desired without transgressing what was right."
